EMMA DARCY (M.Physiotherapy, MAPA; B.ScPsych&Physiol)

Since graduating in 2014, Emma has worked in a number of different realms of general private practice including work with athletes and sports teams, pilates-based rehabilitation, post-operative care and also working with young children.

She credits her many years of training as a gymnast for her strong hands and manual therapy skills which she applies as part of her treatment for managing certain common issues. She is also passionate about training her clients to use Pilates to develop strength and control for management of problem areas and chronic pain.

As a headache sufferer herself, Emma has a keen interest in treating neck related headaches and empowering patients with prevention techniques. She also has a particular interest in injury prevention and load management and loves to keep active people doing what they love.

Emma is heavily involved in the Gymnastics scene in SA. As a former National Level 10 gymnast, she is passionate about movement having held roles such as Advanced Silver coach with Gymnastics Australia (current) and High Performance Coach for Gymnastics SA. She is one of the physiotherapists for Gymnastics SA, overseeing the Gymnastics State Championships.

Emma also loves working with kids and has spent many years gaining experience coaching and mentoring children through her coaching work with Gymnastics SA. This passion led her to spend time working in paediatric neurological and developmental rehabilitation where she further developed her strong communication skills through liaising with parents, goal setting and working with a team of allied health professionals to achieve planned outcomes.

Her commitment to children and keeping them fit and active extends to her weekends outside work hours when she runs her own business hosting gymnastics birthday parties.

Emma’s experiences in different areas of physiotherapy and movement are what makes her a well-rounded physiotherapist with a very holistic approach to the treatment of her clients, and the perfect fit for our team and clients here at Good Physio.

Emma has undertaken further training in the following areas:

  • Dry Needling Level 1

  • Strap-It Sports Taping

  • APA Sports Level 1

  • Physiotherapist for Gymnastics South Australia
